Updating Breaking News: FHP looking for hit-and-run driver involved in collision that seriously injured a motorcyclist in Pasco County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a hit-and-run collision on August 8th in Pasco County that resulted in serious injuries to a motorcyclist.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:10 p.m., a Jaguar sedan was traveling northbound on US-19 approaching the intersection of Sea Ranch Drive in the outside right turn lane. 

At the same time, a Yamaha motorcycle, was traveling northbound on US-19 approaching the intersection of Sea Ranch Drive in the inside northbound lane. 

As they approached, the first vehicle attempted a lane change from the right turn lane into the left turn lane, crossing all northbound lanes of US-19 and entering the path of  the motorcycle.

Due to other stopped traffic, the first vehicle stopped abruptly in the inside lane and path of the motorcycle.  Despite evasive maneuvers, the motorcycle collided with the ffirst vehicle and came to rest in the center northbound lane. 

Following the collision, the first vehicle fled the scene as the motorcyclist, a 48-year-old Weeki Wachee man, was left with serious injuries. 

Anyone with information regarding the identity of Driver 1 is asked to call *FHP (*347) or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS. 

The FHP did not release the name of the motorcyclist involved in the collision.
