Breaking News Overnight: Passenger dies after vehicle drives into a pond in Pasco County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle incident this morning in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a passenger.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:34 am, a Toyota Corolla, driven by an 82-year-old Bushnell man, was traveling southbound on Black Fox Drive. 

As the driver turned onto Sawgrass Boulevard, and for an unknown reason, the vehicle traveled into a pond and became submerged. 

The driver suffered minor injuries; however, an 88-year-old female passenger from New Port Richey suffered fatal injuries at the crash scene. 

The FHP did not release the names of the driver or passenger involved in the collision.
