Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Polk County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:40 pm, a Ford Fiesta, driven by a 29-year-old Haines City woman, was traveling eastbound on Bannon Island Road.
At the same time, a tractor-trailer driven by a 35-year-old man from Darby, Pennsylvania, was traveling southbound on Detour Road.
At the intersection of the two roadways, the first vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with the trailer of the second vehicle.
The first driver suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the collision.
