Updating Breaking News: Driver dies after two-vehicle collision in Hernando County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Hernando County that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 3:41 p.m., a Toyota Highlander, driven by a 69-year-old Brooksville woman, was exiting a parking lot located at 6292 Commercial Way. 

At the same time, a Dodge Ram, driven by a 16-year-old male from Spring Hill, was traveling northbound in the outside lane of US-19, north of the intersection of SR-50. 

Failing to yield, the first turned left into the path and was struck by the second vehicle. The driver of the first vehicle suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The second driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. 

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the crash.
