Updating Breaking News: Driver dies after head-on collision in Citrus County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Citrus County that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:45 pm, a Dodge Ram driven by a 20-year-old Weeki Wachee man was traveling eastbound on CR-480. 

At the same time, a 56-year-old Inverness man driving a Toyota Tundra was traveling westbound on CR-480. 

West of South Meredith Avenue, the first vehicle crossed the roadway's center line for unknown reasons and collided nearly head-on with the second vehicle. 

After the collision, the two vehicles rotated to final rest in the westbound lane and northern grass shoulder. 

The driver of the second vehicle suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. 

 The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the crash.
