Updating Breaking News: One dead, four injured after a two-vehicle collision in Marion County; driver arrested for DUI Manslaughter

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Marion County that resulted in the death of a passenger.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:40 p.m., a pickup truck driven by a 54-year-old Ocala man and a sport utility vehicle driven by a 53-year-old Ocala man were traveling north on US-441.

As the first vehicle approached the slower-moving second vehicle, it struck the rear section with its front section, causing one fatality (a 72-year-old Clermont woman) and three injuries to the occupants of the second vehicle.

After the collision, the driver of the first vehicle was arrested for DUI Manslaughter, among several other criminal charges, and booked into the Marion County jail.

In this report, the FHP did not release the names of the drivers or the passengers involved in the collision.
