Overnight Breaking News: FHP looking for hit-and-run driver involved in fatal collision with a pedestrian in Orange County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision last night in Orange County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian and a driver who fled the scene.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:44 pm, a 2020 Toyota Tacoma was traveling southbound on Ocoee Apopka Road south of Demastus Lane. 

At the same time, a 25-year-old Ocoee man was lying down in the southbound lane on Ocoee Apopka Road south of Demastus Lane in the direct path of the vehicle.

As it approached, the vehicle struck the pedestrian and fled the collision scene.

Witnesses provided the Ocoee Police Department with a description of the vehicle involved in the collision. The OPD assisted the FHP and located a vehicle in the area that matched the description and had consistent damage from the crash.

Troopers from the FHP had the vehicle towed to a secured storage area for processing.

This is an active criminal investigation.

The FHP did not release the name of the deceased pedestrian.
