Breaking News Overnight: Pedestrian hit and killed by SUV in Citrus County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision last night in Citrus County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:57 pm, a Dodge Ram sport utility vehicle, driven by a 75-year-old Lecanto man, was traveling eastbound on CR-490, approaching South Lantana Way, where a pedestrian was walking a Lectric bike across the highway. 

The pedestrian, a 36-year-old Homosassa man, entered the path and was struck by the SUV.

 The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. 

The FHP did not release the names of the driver or pedestrian involved in the collision.
