Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision this morning in Citrus County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:12 am, a Hyundai Sonata, driven by a 61-year-old Hernando man, was traveling westbound on SR-44.
East of South Shad Terrace, a 60-year-old Inverness woman walked across the highway, entered the path, and was struck by the vehicle.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash, while the driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver or pedestrian involved in the collision.
