Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:27 am, a Nissan Sentra, driven by a 75-year-old Zephyrhills woman, was traveling eastbound on 12th Avenue.

At the same time, a Chevy Express, driven by a 67-year-old Zephyrhills man, was traveling northbound on 20th Street.

At the intersection of the two roadways, the first vehicle failed to stop for a posted stop sign, entered the intersection, and collided with the left side of the second vehicle.

Upon impact, the first vehicle rotated and collided with a fence, while the second vehicle rotated and struck a utility box and a house on 20th Street, causing minor damage.

The driver of the first vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

The driver of the second vehicle, unrestrained, was ejected during the collision and suffered fatal injuries at the scene.

The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the collision.
