Breaking Afternoon News: Motorcyclist dies after head-on collision with SUV in Pasco County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision this afternoon in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:05 p.m., a Kawasaki motorcycle, operated by a 63-year-old Spring Hill man, was traveling southbound on US-19. 

At the same time, a Ford Edge sport utility vehicle, driven by a 34-year-old Crystal River woman, was traveling northbound on US-19. 

North of Briar Oaks Drive, the motorcyclist lost control, crossed the median, and collided nearly head-on with the SUV. 

The motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.  Both the driver of the second vehicle and a 12-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries and were not transported. 

The FHP did not release the name of the motorcyclist, driver, or passenger involved in the collision.
