Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision last night in Hernando County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 11 p.m., a Cadillac Escalade, driven by a 68-year-old Hernando Beach woman, was traveling southbound on Shoal Line Boulevard.
South of Lentini Lane, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which traveled to the west shoulder. The driver then over-corrected, traveled across the highway, entered the east shoulder, collided with two palm trees, and finally overturned in a water canal.
The driver suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The FHP did not release the driver's name involved in the crash.
