Breaking Morning News: Pedestrian hit and killed by vehicle in Sumter County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision this morning in Sumter County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:12 a.m., a Toyota Corolla, driven by a 23-year-old Leesburg woman, was traveling eastbound on Old Mill Run. 

East of Buena Vista Boulevard, a pedestrian attempted to cross the roadway and was struck by a vehicle. 

The pedestrian, a 77-year-old woman from The Villages, was transported to an area hospital, where she later expired from her injuries. 

The FHP did not release the name of the driver or pedestrian involved in the crash.
