Updating Breaking News: Two dead, one injured after motorcycle collides with vehicle in Citrus County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Citrus County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist and his passenger.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:12 pm, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 79-year-old Brooksville man, was traveling westbound on Dixieland Street.  

At the same time, a Nissan Altima, driven by a 51-year-old Homosassa woman, was traveling northbound on US 19. 

At the intersection of the two roadways, the motorcyclist failed to yield, entered the path, and was struck by the second vehicle.

Both drivers were transported to area hospitals, where the motorcyclist later expired from injuries suffered during the crash. 

A passenger traveling on Vehicle 1, a 69-year-old Brooksville woman, was transported to an area hospital and also expired from her injuries. 

 The FHP did not release the names of the driver, motorcyclist, or passenger involved in the crash.
