Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Hernando County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:38 pm, a Honda motorcycle was traveling westbound on Spring Hill Drive.
At the same time, a Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling southbound on Pinehurst Drive.
At the intersection, the first vehicle failed to stop for a red traffic signal, entered the intersection, and collided with the second vehicle.
After the collision, both vehicles rotated to final rest in the eastbound and westbound lanes, respectively.
The motorcyclist, a 21-year-old Spring Hill man, suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The SUV driver, a 43-year-old Spring Hill woman, suffered minor injuries.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver or motorcyclist involved in the crash.
