Breaking News Overnight: Driver dies after two-vehicle collision in Marion County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Marion County that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:35 pm, a 50-year-old Dunnellon man driving a pickup truck was traveling west on SW 29 Street, approaching a stop sign at the intersection of US-41.

At the same time, a 61-year-old Morriston woman driving a pickup truck was traveling south on US-41, approaching the intersection of SW 29 Street.

As they approached, the first vehicle failed to stop for the stop sign at US-41, entered the second vehicle's path of travel, and collided.

The driver of the first vehicle sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene by Marion County Fire and Rescue.

The driver of the second vehicle sustained non-incapacitating injuries.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the collision.
