Posted

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Levy County that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 4:17 p.m., a sport utility vehicle driven by a 63-year-old Chiefland woman was traveling east on County Road 347 (NW 60th Street), approaching NW US Highway 19.

At the same time, a van driven by a Floyd Knobs, IN man was traveling south on NW US Highway 19 approaching County Road 347.

As they approached, the SUV traveled into the path of the van. This caused the van to collide with the left side of the SUV, which rotated and came to a rest facing east in the middle of NW US Hwy 19. The van traveled off the roadway onto the right shoulder and came to a rest facing west.

The SUV driver was pronounced deceased on the scene. According to the report, the van driver reported minor injuries to the FHP.

The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the collision.
