Breaking News Overnight: Single-vehicle collision in Lee County kills driver

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision this morning in Lee County that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:46 am, a 24-year-old Lake Wales man driving a sedan was traveling north on Ben Hill Griffin Parkway, approaching Parallel Drive when he lost control of his vehicle and entered the outside shoulder/sidewalk area, traveled back across the travel lanes, overturned onto the median and collided with a street sign and two trees.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the name of the driver involved in the crash.
