Updating Breaking News: Single-vehicle collision in Hamilton County kills driver; injures passenger

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision this morning in Hamilton County that resulted in the driver's death.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:40 am, a sedan driven by a 38-year-old Jennings woman was traveling eastbound on SR-6, east of NW 56th Avenue west of Jasper, when it crossed the centerline and drifted off the roadway onto the north grass shoulder. The driver oversteered the sedan back to the right striking five mailboxes.
The sedan then overturned as it traveled across the roadway and onto the south grass shoulder, where it came to a final rest on its roof.
Both occupants were ejected during the overturn event.
The driver was pronounced deceased on scene, and the passenger, a 35-year-old Gainesville man, was transported to UF Health in Gainesville with serious injuries.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or passenger involved in the collision.
