Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Hernando County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 4 p.m., a Ford F150, driven by a 48-year-old Brooksville man, was traveling northbound on US-41.
At the same time, a Dodge Ram pickup, driven by a 39-year-old Weeki Wachee man, was traveling southbound on US-41.
Near Deer Run Road, the first vehicle traveled onto the outside shoulder for an unknown reason. The driver over-corrected back across the highway, entered the path of, and collided nearly head-on with the second vehicle.
The driver of the second vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital, while the driver of the first vehicle suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the crash.
