Breaking Morning News: Motorcyclist dies after two-vehicle collision in Hernando County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision this morning in Hernando County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:34 am, a GMC sport utility vehicle, driven by a 52-year-old Spring Hill woman, was traveling northbound on US-19. 

At the same time, a Honda motorcycle, operated by a 20-year-old Spring Hill man, was traveling southbound on US-19. 

At the intersection of Windward Boulevard, the SUV turned left into the path and was struck by the motorcycle. 

After the collision, the SUV continued to the shoulder of the roadway and struck a roadway sign while the motorcycle came to rest on the highway. 

The SUV driver suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to an area hospital, while the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

 The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the collision.
