Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Hernando County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:23 pm, a Toyota Camry, driven by a 50-year-old Brooksville man, was traveling northbound on Jasmine Drive.
At the same time, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 60-year-old Lady Lake man, was traveling westbound on Mondon Hill Road.
At the intersection of the two roadways, despite a posted stop sign, the first vehicle entered the motorcycle's path and was struck by it. Both drivers were both transported to area hospitals following the crash with serious injuries.
The motorcyclist later died from injuries suffered during the crash.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the crash.
