Updating Breaking News: Two-vehicle collision in Manatee County kills motorcyclist

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Manatee County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 12:35 pm Saturday, a 30-year-old Sarasota man riding a motorcycle was traveling north on US-41 (14th Street), in the left lane, north of 66th Avenue West, at a high rate of speed.
At the same time, a sedan driven by a 63-year-old Bradenton man was traveling south on US-41, on the continuous left turn lane north of 66th Avenue West.
As they approached, the sedan driver attempted to make a left turn into a driveway located at the 6500 block of 14th Street, in front of the approaching motorcycle. The front of the motorcycle collided with the right side of sedan.
The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on scene. The sedan driver suffered serious injuries, according to the report.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or the motorcyclist involved in the collision.
