Updating Breaking News: Two-vehicle collision in Alachua County kills motorcyclist

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision this morning in Alachua County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, a 2019 Yamaha Motorcycle driven by a 21-year-old Gainesville resident was traveling east on NW 39th Avenue in Gainesville. At the same time, a 2019 Hino Truck driven by a 61-year-old Jacksonville man was traveling west on NW 39th Ave.
At the intersection of NW 97th Boulevard, the second vehicle's driver made a left turn in front of the motorcycle, as it was being operated in an elevated position with only the rear tire in contact with the road, and struck the right rear of the truck.
After the collision, the motorcyclist came to final rest in the eastbound lanes of NW 39th Avenue, where he was pronounced deceased. The truck driver reported no injuries.
The FHP did not release the names of either driver.
