Updating Breaking News: Pickup truck overturns in Hendry County; passenger killed

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle yesterday in Hendry County that resdulted in the death of a passenger.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 4:27 pm a pickup truck driven by a 29-year-old Immokalee man was traveling north on County Road 833 (Sam Jones Trail).

For an unknown reason, the driver lost control of the vehicle, traveled off the roadway, overturned and collided with a fence.

One passenger, a 52-year-old Immokalee man, sustained serious injuries, was airlifted to Broward Health, and later pronounced deceased.

Five other passengers inside the pickup truck sustained minor injuries, while the driver reported no injuries to the FHP, according to the report.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the driver or passengers involved in the collision.
