A 27-year-old Fort Myers man was killed, and several others were injured Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle collision in Lee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:40 pm on Cemetery Road near Dana Road.
According to FHP, the 27-year-old man was driving a 2026 Nissan west on Cemetery Road and approaching Dana Road. A 2022 Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 43-year-old Fort Myers man was traveling east on Cemetery Road after passing the intersection.
Troopers said the Nissan crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lane directly in the path of the Suburban. The front-left portions of the two vehicles collided.
The Nissan driver was pronounced dead. Passengers in his vehicle were injured and transported to an area hospital.
The Suburban’s driver and passengers also suffered injuries and were taken to an area hospital.
FHP did not report the number of passengers involved or provide details about the severity of their injuries. Troopers are continuing to investigate the crash, including the passengers’ identities and ages and whether the vehicles’ occupants were wearing seat belts.
