Breaking News Overnight: Pedestrian hit and killed by SUV in Hernando County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle yesterday in Hernando County that resulted in the death of the pedestrian.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:34 pm, a Honda CR-V, driven by a 72-year-old Spring Hill woman, was traveling northbound on Mariner Boulevard. 

Near the intersection of Hearth Road, a 76-year-old man attempted to cross the highway.  The pedestrian entered the path and was struck by the vehicle. 

Transported to an area hospital, the pedestrian later expired from injuries suffered during the crash. 

The FHP did not release the names of the driver or pedestrian involved in the crash.
