Updating Breaking News: Pedestrian hit and killed by fleeing vehicle in Manatee County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision Monday in Manatee County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian and a driver fleeing the scene.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:49 pm, a vehicle was traveling west on 60th Ave West, approaching a marked crosswalk, near the entrance/exit for Publix.
At the same time, a 74-year-old Bradenton man was attempting to cross the travel lanes of 60th Avenue West, within the marked crosswalk.
As it approached, the unknown vehicle collided with the pedestrian, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
After the crash, the vehicle entered the Flamingo Garden Apartment complex and stopped, then traveled through the apartment complex, reentered 60th Street Avenue West, and fled westbound.
The vehicle is possibly a Toyota Rav4 or 4-Runner SUV, possibly dark gray or black.
