Updating Breaking News: 69-year-old driver dies after colliding with house in Hernando County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision yesterday in Hernando County that resulted in the death of the driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:45 pm, a Nissan Rogue, driven by a 69-year-old Spring Hill man, was traveling northbound on Arrowhead Avenue. 

The driver suffered a medical emergency and lost control of the vehicle, which departed the roadway and struck a street sign, fence, and house in the yard of a home on the 7200 block of Greenleaf Lane. 

Transported to an area hospital, the driver later died.

A passenger traveling in the vehicle, a 68-year-old Spring Hill woman, was uninjured during the incident. 

The home suffered an estimated $10,000 in damages; the occupants were uninjured.  

 The FHP did not release the names of the driver or passenger involved in the crash.
