Updating Breaking News: One dead, one seriously injured after a single-vehicle collision in Citrus County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Citrus County yesterday that resulted in the death of a passenger and injuries to the driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:47 pm, a Chrysler 200, driven by a 32-year-old Hernando man, was traveling northbound on North Croft Avenue. 

South of East Ramsey Street, the driver lost control of the vehicle, departing the roadway, entering the outside shoulder, and striking a utility pole, a tree, and guide wires in successive order. 

The driver and a one-year-old female child both suffered serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals. 

The child later expired from injuries suffered during the crash. 

  The FHP did not release the name of the driver or passenger involved in the crash.
