Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision yesterday in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:11 pm, a Kia Soul was traveling eastbound on CR-54. At the same time, a Hyundai Sonata was traveling westbound on CR-54.
A third vehicle, a Hyundai Velostar, was traveling westbound behind the second vehicle.
East of Lumberton Road, the first vehicle entered the westbound lane and the path of the second vehicle. The two vehicles collided nearly head-on, with debris from the impact striking the third vehicle.
The driver of the third vehicle suffered no injuries during the incident; however, the drivers of the first two vehicles suffered serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals.
The driver of the first vehicle later died from injuries suffered during the crash.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the collision.
