Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 2:23 pm, a Toyota Corolla, driven by a 71-year-old Spring Hill man, was traveling northbound on US-19.
At the same time, a motorcycle, operated by a 73-year-old New Port Richey man, was traveling northbound on US-19 ahead of the first vehicle.
South of Fulton Avenue, the motorcyclist slowed for other slowed and stopped traffic while the first vehicle failed to do so.
As a result, they collided.
Upon impact, both vehicles overturned and came to final rest in the northbound lanes of US-19.
The first driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, while the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The FHP did not release the names of the motorcyclist or the other driver in the collision.
