Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 4:45 pm, a Jeep Compass, driven by a 35-year-old Wesley Chapel woman, was exiting Retail Road onto CR-54, west of Old Pasco Road.
At the same time, a Suzuki motorcycle operated by a 61-year-old Wesley Chapel man was traveling westbound on CR-54.
While attempting to enter a median turn lane, the first vehicle entered the motorcycle's path and was struck by it.
Transported to an area hospital, the motorcyclist later died from injuries suffered during the crash.
The FHP did not release the names of the motorcyclist or the other driver in the collision.
