Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision yesterday in Hillsborough County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 9 a.m., a Kawasaki motorcycle operated by a 22-year-old Land O Lakes man was traveling southbound on US-41 at a high rate of speed.
South of Carts Lake Lane, in the center lane, the motorcycle overtook and collided with a Toyota RAV4 driven by a 32-year-old Land O Lakes man.
Upon impact, the motorcyclist was propelled into the inside lane of US-41 and was struck by a Chevy Traverse driven by a 33-year-old Land O Lakes woman.
Transported to an area hospital, the motorcyclist later expired from injuries suffered during the crash.
The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the collision.
