Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Glades County yesterday that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist and a passenger.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:29 pm on Saturday, a sport utility vehicle driven by a 75-year-old Melbourne woman was traveling south on State Road 29 in LaBelle.
At the same time, a motorcycle driven by a 72-year-old Avon Park and transporting a 71-year-old Avon Park woman was traveling north on State Road 29.
As they approached, the SUV crossed the center line, entered the northbound travel lane, and collided with the front of the motorcycle.
After the collision, the SUV collided with a guardrail. The driver sustained a minor injury and was transported to an area hospital.
The motorcyclist and the passenger were pronounced deceased on the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver, motorcyclist, or passenger involved in the crash.
