Updating Breaking News: Moore Haven man dies in two-vehicle crash in Glades County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Glades County yesterday that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 3 pm on Tuesday, a pickup truck driven by a 37-year-old Moore Haven man was traveling north on Ortona Road, approaching the stop sign intersection of State Road 78 in Moore Haven. At the same time, a dump truck, driven by a 31-year-old Lehigh Acres man, was traveling east on State Road 78, approaching Ortona Road.

As the vehicles approached, the pickup driver failed to stop for the stop sign and entered the direct path of the dump truck, and they collided.

The pickup driver was transported to Hendry Regional Hospital and later pronounced deceased. The dump truck driver did not report any injuries to the FHP.

The FHP did not release the names of either driver.

The crash remains under investigation.
