Updating Breaking News: FHP still looking for hit-and-run driver involved in fatal collision in Hillsborough County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision on November 11th in Hillsborough County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian and a fleeing driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:45 pm, a Volvo semi-tractor, driven by a 53-year-old Tampa man, was traveling northbound on US-41. 

South of 24th Avenue South, a 49-year-old Brandon man riding a bicycle attempted to cross US-41. The bicyclist entered the path and was struck by the truck. 

The bicyclist suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. 

Following the initial collision, while the truck driver was attending to the bicyclist, an unknown dark-colored pickup truck traveling northbound also collided with the bicyclist and failed to stop at the scene of the crash. 

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call *FHP (*347) or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.

The FHP did not release the names of the driver or bicyclist involved in the collision.
