Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Polk County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 4 p.m., a Kia sedan driven by a 20-year-old Davenport man was traveling southbound on US-27.
At the same time, a Tesla Model 3, driven by a 26-year-old Haines City man, was traveling northbound on US-27. At the intersection of Blue Heron Boulevard.
As they approached, the first vehicle turned left into the path of the second vehicle and was struck by it. As a result, the first driver suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The second driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the collision.
