Posted

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 12:08 pm, a Jeep Cherokee, driven by an 81-year-old Hudson man, was traveling eastbound on SR-52.

At the same time, a single-unit commercial truck, driven by a 62-year-old Apollo Beach man, was traveling westbound on SR-52.

West of the intersection of Little Road, the first driver attempted to turn left into a plaza entrance and, in doing so, entered the path and was struck by the second vehicle.

After the collision, the first vehicle rotated and then overturned.

Transported to an area hospital, the first driver later died from injuries suffered during the crash.

The second driver was not injured during the incident.

The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the collision.

This is breaking news and may be updated if more details are known.
