Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision on Wednesday in Polk County that resulted in the death of a bicyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:53 pm, a Ford Mustang, driven by a 23-year-old Winter Haven man, was traveling southbound on South County Line Road.
South of Ralston Road, the driver traveled off the roadway and collided with a 39-year-old Winter Haven man riding a bicycle along the highway shoulder.
Following the collision, the vehicle re-entered the roadway and collided with a Mercedes M Class SUV, driven by a 69-year-old Lakeland woman.
The drivers suffered minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital.
Transported to an area hospital, the bicyclist later expired from injuries suffered during the crash.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or the bicyclist involved in the collision.
