From the Florida Highway Patrol
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a multi-vehicle collision this morning in Sumter County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 4:50 a.m., a pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old Crystal River man was traveling eastbound on CR-476.
At the same time, a tractor/trailer driven by a 63-year-old Coleman (FL) man was traveling northbound on SR-471.
At the intersection of the two roadways, the pickup failed to yield to the second vehicle and collided with the undercarriage of the tractor/trailer.
The pickup driver suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the second vehicle reported no injuries to the FHP.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the crash.
