Florida Highway Patrol needs your help in Pinellas County hit-and-run collision

Posted

On May 19th, 2023, at 10:28 AM, a bicyclist named Kenny Gamble, aged 40, was traveling south across 54th Avenue North at 43rd Street North when a blue Dodge Ram 1500 pickup departed a Texaco Gas Station.  The truck turned west onto 54th Avenue North, collided with Gamble, and fled the scene.  The incident was captured on security video, as well as an image of the possible suspect driver.

The collision caused serious head and spinal injuries to Gamble, who continues to recover at his St. Petersburg home.  The crash also destroyed his bicycle, his sole form of transportation.  Unable to work or acquire another bicycle, a FHP Victim Advocate worked to help locate a donor for a replacement.

Upon learning of Gamble’s circumstances, Eddie Mullally of Neptune Cyclery immediately offered to assist and provided a brand-new bicycle.  FHP Troopers delivered the bicycle today, and Gamble was overwhelmed with thanks for the Tarpon Springs-based bike shop’s support and assistance.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call *FHP (*347) or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.
