Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision last night in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 9:02 p.m., a Nissan Pathfinder, driven by a 57-year-old Holiday man, was traveling westbound on Garfield Drive when the driver suffered a medical emergency.
The driver lost control of the vehicle, which traveled across the roadway and struck several trash cans before colliding with a Honda Civic at the 3400 block of Garfield Drive.
The Honda was parked and unoccupied when struck.
The first vehicle continued and struck a tree, then a concrete porch post, before coming to a final rest. Transported to an area hospital, the driver later expired.
West of East Road, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which departed the roadway and collided with a utility pole.
Transported to an area hospital, the driver later died from injuries suffered during the crash.
The FHP did not release the driver's name involved in the collision.
