From the Florida Highway Patrol
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision this morning in Hillsborough County, resulting in two injured drivers and a road closure.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:42 am, a Ford Mustang, driven by a 58-year-old Spring Hill man, was traveling southbound on SR-589 in the outside lane near Milepost 6.
At the same time, a Tesla Model 3, driven by a 35-year-old Land O' Lakes woman, was traveling southbound, just ahead of the first vehicle and in the center lane.
As they approached, the first vehicle initiated a lane change and lost control of the vehicle, which rotated across the highway and collided with the median barrier wall.
Upon impact, the first vehicle was redirected back across the highway and into the path of the second vehicle, and they collided.
Both drivers suffered minor injuries, and the driver of the second vehicle was transported to an area hospital for medical care.
The crash closed the southbound lanes of SR-589 until 7:30 AM.
The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the collision.
