Breaking News Overnight: Two-vehicle collision in Manatee County kills driver

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Manatee County that resulted in the driver's death.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:28 pm a sport utility vehicle driven by an 81-year-old Sarasota woman was traveling west on the driveway access of 8431 North Tamiami Trail, approaching US-41.
At the same time, a second SUV driven by a 57-year-old Bradenton man was traveling north in the middle lane of US-41, approaching Seagate Drive.
As they approached, the first vehicle entered US 41 and the path of the second vehicle. As a result, the front of the second vehicle collided with the left side of the first vehicle.
The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced deceased at the collision scene.
The driver of the second vehicle and a passenger in the first vehicle (an 84-year-old Nokomis woman) reported minor injuries to the FHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the name of the drivers involved in the crash.
