Breaking News Overnight: Two-vehicle collision in Lee County kills motorcyclist

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Lee County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:46 pm, a 35-year-old Salisbury, NC man, riding a motorcycle, was traveling south on Estero Boulevard, approaching Redfish Road in Ft. Myers Beach. At the same time, a 65-year-old Bonita Springs man driving a pickup truck was traveling north on Estero Boulevard, north of Redfish Road.
As they approached, the motorcyclist failed to maintain control of his vehicle, traveled onto the northbound lane, and collided with the pickup.
The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. The pickup driver and two passengers in the vehicle did not report any injuries to the FHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver, passengers, or the deceased motorcyclist.
