Updating Breaking News: Single-vehicle collision on Interstate 75 in Manatee County kills driver

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision yesterday in Manatee County that resulted in the driver's death.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:14 pm, a sport utility vehicle driven by an 86-year-old Bradenton man was traveling south on Interstate 75, on the mile marker 217 exit ramp, approaching a right curve on the roadway, north of State Road 70.
For an unknown reason, the driver failed to negotiate the curve properly, traveled off the roadway, entered the grass median, collided with a concrete culvert and overturned into a retention pond.
The driver was pronounced deceased on scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the name of the deceased driver.
