Breaking News Overnight: Sarasota man dies after a single-vehicle collision in Sarasota County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Sarasota County yesterday, resulting in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:32 am, a 2018 Toyota RAV 4 sport utility vehicle driven by a 34-year-old Sarasota man was traveling eastbound on Bee Ridge Road approximately 1,000 feet east of Swift Road.
As it advanced, the vehicle exited the roadway and struck an oak tree located within the grassy front yard of 2920 Bee Ridge Road. After the initial impact, the vehicle struck a second oak tree, splitting the vehicle in half.
The driver was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The FHP Homicide Unit continues to investigate this fatal crash.
The FHP did not release the driver's name involved in the crash.
