Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision this morning in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 12:57 am, a Mercedes sedan, driven by a 46-year-old Tampa man, was traveling northbound on US-19.
At the intersection of Trouble Creek Road, a 60-year-old New Port Richey woman traveling in a wheelchair attempted to cross the highway despite a red pedestrian traffic signal. The woman entered the path of and was struck by the vehicle, which had entered the intersection under a green traffic signal.
Transported to an area hospital, the woman later died from injuries suffered during the crash.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver or pedestrian involved in the collision.
