Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision between a pedestrian and vehicle last night in Hernando County that resulted in the death of the pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:10 pm, a Toyota RAV4 driven by a 64-year-old Thonotosassa woman, was traveling westbound on Spring Hill Drive.
East of Air Commerce Boulevard, a a 64-year-old Montandon, PA woman was walking in the travel lanes, which were dark and wet from recent rain.
Unable to observe her, and despite efforts to avoid a collision, the driver struck the pedestrian.
Transported to an area hospital, the woman was pronounced deceased later that night from injuries suffered during the collision.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or pedestrian involved in the crash.
